Background
& Challenge
The client’s data existed in 60,000 legacy documents. The client needed the Tags and their respective design data extracting from the documents. The data then needed to be Transformed (cleansed, corrected, validated, mapped) to create a Master Tag Register.
DIGATEX’s
Solution
DIGATEX processed 60,000 documents through their DI-analytics platform and published the results to their web portal (Knowledge Hub) where it was available for checking and interactive use by the client team to assist in building the 3D component of the Digital Twin. The data was then mapped to a standard Class Library using the DIGATEX Engineering Hub and delivered to the client to load into their Digital Twin environment.

Major Benefits
Time Efficiency
This was a complex problem with multiple versions of legacy documents, which needed the data to be extracted, cross checked and then reverse engineering to a Tag Register with normalised attribute data. We estimate the time taken was 3 times faster than it could have been done manually.
Cost Savings
The cost of doing this work manually would have been many times the cost compared to using the DIGATEX AIML platform. It would probably not have been cost effective to do it.
Operational Continuity
The provision of this data has filled out the Digital Twin with vital 2D asset information, and the use of the digitally intelligent drawings produced by DIGATEX have enable much improved cross checking and validation with the 3D Digital model and other spin off benefits.
Conclusion
This project improved data completeness, quality and consistency. It enabled data gaps to be identified and fixed and was an invaluable tool in validating and assisting in the completion of the 3D Digital Twin.
